Overview

Users receive the following error when sending a test fax from the Email2Fax Gateway Properties:

502 unimplemented.

Environment

• GFI FaxMaker
• POP3 downloader enabled with a hosted email solution 

Root Cause

SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) authentication is enabled, and the mail host does not require authentication.

Process

Follow these steps to resolve this issue:

1. Open the GFI FaxMaker configuration.
2. Open the Email2Fax Gateway section.
3. Select Properties.
4. In the SMTP Connector tab remove the check next to Use SMTP Authentication.
5. Click OK.
