Sending Email Requests from Microsoft Outlook with a .doc Extension

Overview

Sending fax email requests from Microsoft Outlook where one or more .doc(x) files are attached requires the installation of Microsoft Word on the GFI FaxMaker server that is capable of opening and viewing the attached.doc(x) attachments.

Process

  1. Install Microsoft Word on the GFI FaxMaker server and then Log in to the GFI FaxMaker machine using the service account of the GFI FaxMaker FaxServer service.
  2. Open Microsoft Word and disable any user prompts to ensure that the conversion process does not require user interactions.
  3. To locate the service account for GFI FaxMaker FaxServer service, navigate to Startrunservices.msc;
  4. Right-click the GFI FaxMaker FaxServer service account and go to properties, then review the credentials specified under the Login tab.

Confirmation

The GFI FaxMaker FaxServer service should be able to send email requests from Microsoft Outlook with a .doc file extension. For other Microsoft Office file types such as xls(x) and ppt (x), etc.  it is recommended you install the required program from Microsoft Office Product Suite (e.g. Microsoft Excel).
