How to determine if the power supply is faulty

Overview

A faulty power supply will present differently depending on model.

If the appliance only has a single power supply it will be inaccessible through physical connection (monitor or console) and the power supply will not light up when connected to a live outlet.

If the appliance has redundant power supplies you will see a System Health Warning indicating an issue with the power supply. If you have email or SNMP alerts configured you will also receive that notification when the failure occurs.

Cause

Check the following:

1. Check the power cable connection, make sure it's not loose, and inserted properly.
2. Try another power cable if available.
3. Check power sources if you redundant power supplies are connected to different sources.

Resolution

The resolution for this issue is to submit a case with the Exinda TAC Support team to begin the RMA procedure and have a new Power Supply shipped to your location.

To proceed, Exinda TAC will require the below information:

• Contact Name
• Contact Phone Number
• Contact Email Address
• Street Name and Number
• City
• Postal / Zip Code (when appropriate)
• Country
• Any special shipping instructions for delivery (Side Door, Suite 100, etc)
• A signed copy of the End User Certificate

This End User Certificate (EUC) document is associated with your account and is required for US export controls. If the TAC Team does not already have a valid copy of this document, they will request it in their reply.
