Configuring WebMonitor Proxy Exceptions for AutoCAD

Overview

Some exceptions are required to be configured in the server and the web browsers to use AutoCAD through the WebMonitor proxy.

This article provides the steps in setting AutoCAD exceptions in the web browser as well as replacing the proxypac.pac file in the GFI WebMonitor installation directory to allow AutoCAD authentication to pass and work through a proxy.

Environment

  • GFI WebMonitor
  • All supported versions

Process

  1. Set AutoCAD exceptions in the web browser.
    • Under Exceptions, add an exception to allow the following domains to bypass the proxy server:
        • *.autodesk.com
        • *.google-analytics.com
        • *.cloudfront.net
        • *.virtualearth.net
        • *.autocadws.com
        • *.newrelic.com
        • *.akamaiedge.net
        • *.amazonaws.com
        • *.getsatisfaction.com
        • *.autodesk360.com
        • *.skyscraper.autodesk.com

Note: Make sure your network is set up to route requests directly to these domains without routing through the proxy servers.
  2. Stop the GFI WebMonitor Core and GFI Proxy services.
    1. Go to Start > Run.
    2. In the Open field, enter services.msc and click OK.
    3. Select GFI WebMonitor Core and click on the stop link on the left side of the pop-up window.
    4. Do the same for GFI Proxy services.
  3. Replace the proxypac.pac file
    1. Download this proxypac.pac patch file.
    2. Navigate to the installation directory C:\Program Files\GFI\WebMonitor\proxypac.pac and replace the existing proxypac.pac file with the new patch that you just downloaded.
  4. Start GFI WebMonitor Core and GFI Proxy services.
    1. Navigate back to services.msc.
    2. Select GFI WebMonitor Core and click on the start link on the left side of the pop-up window.
    3. Do the same for GFI Proxy services.
  5. Close and re-open the client web-browsers and do the AutoCAD authentication again.

Note:

Replacing the proxypac.pac file will resolve the issue only if the WebMonitor WPAD configuration is used. If the WebMonitor settings are configured manually, make sure to adjust the proxyconfig.xml file with the same exclusions.
