Overview

Scan results show that multiple version numbers missing updates for the same software.

Example:

JAVA6033, JAVA6031, and JAVA6020 all show as missing when only JAVA6033 should be shown since it supersedes the others.

This issue has only been identified with the Critical Patches scan profile so it should not happen with other profiles. Have the customer test with the Missing patches profile to see if they get the same results (they should not).

NOTE: There is a problem with the 'Critical Patches' scan profile that breaks its ability to use the superseded logic.

LanGuard (all versions)

Resolution

Have the customer use the 'Missing Patches' profile (or another profile). The development will be addressing this in the next major release.

Required Actions

Upgrade to LanGuard 2012 SR1.
