Type: Release

Product: GFI MailEssentials 2012

Improvements:
  • Support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 (Information Store Scanning is not supported on this Exchange version due to lack of VSAPI support in Microsoft Exchange 2013; MailEssentials 2012 will still support VSAPI scanning for Exchange 2003, 2007, and 2010)
  • Support for upgrading from VIPRE Email Security for Exchange
  • Localization in German, Spanish, Italian and Russian languages
  • New Anti-Spoofing filter, which blocks emails with spoofed local domains in the email sender
  • New Personal Whitelist and Blocklist feature
  • New custom and scheduled reports functionality
  • IP DNS Blocklist filter can now filter SPAM during SMTP transmission
  • Re-introduced the Anti-Spam Header Checking filter, which was available in GFI MailEssentials 2010 and earlier versions
  • User interface support for Firefox v.16.0.2 or later and Chrome v22.0.1229.94 or later
  • Support for Microsoft Exchange 2003 cluster environments
  • Performance improvements in the loading of the dashboard

Resolves:
  • Attachment Checking filter blocked EML files when the option to block all files except for a number of file-types was used, even though EML was in the list of allowed file-types
  • On Microsoft Exchange 2003, an unhandled error caused processing of all outbound emails to fail
  • Email processing fails for emails at regular intervals due to an issue when writing Anti-Spam filtering information to reporting database
  • The GFI MailEssentials 2012 installation had an issue in the detection of third party VSAPI products
  • The menus within generated reports showed an error if GFI MailEsssentials was running in Local Mode
  • The upgrade from GFI MailEssentials 2010 reported an incorrect quarantine location in the installation if the location was not the default before upgrading
  • The Updates tab of Anti-Phishing and Bayesian configuration were not showing the correct version information of the downloaded updates
  • Approving and previewing of quarantined emails from quarantine digest was requesting credentials each time an approve or preview link is accessed
  • The post installation wizard failed to launch automatically after an upgrade from GFI MailEssentials 14.1, causing all emails to bypass GFI MailEssentials processing
  • The upgrade from GFI MailEssentials 12 was changing Move to Exchange action to Move to Inbox and Tagging
  • When email processing functionality was disabled from the Switchboard, the quarantine public URL was set to empty
  • Global actions tab was displayed when Move to Exchange functionality was not available
  • If the Remote Commands security option was enabled but no email address was specified in the list, the module reported that it was disabled
  • Outbound emails which were blocked by Information Store Protection where shown in the dashboard with empty strings in sender, recipient and subject
  • When switching to Local Mode from the Switchboard, the RSS virtual directory’s application pool was deleted, causing access to the RSS virtual directory to fail
  • Public folder scanning did not support specifying a server name which starts with a number
  • The check for updates functionality was not returning correct response when a new build was uploaded
  • Installation was failing when enumerating multiple SMTP servers that make use of same port and host address
  • The test button in the Directory Harvesting configuration did not work if GFI MailEssentials was running in Local Mode
  • Deletion of excluded emails from Greylist configuration was deleting entries from list of both exclusion tabs
  • Emails which had a Message ID containing a ‘ character were not reported in dashboard
  • The Troubleshooter wizard was not exporting the Synchronization Agent configuration
  • Issue where when checking for the latest build from the UI, it would incorrectly report "No new build available"
