Remote Commands are not working

Answer

PROBLEM

Remote Commands are not working

ENVIRONMENT

  • GFI MailEssentials

SOLUTION

The email that contains remote commands needs to be sent out through the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server to which GFI MailEssentials is bound to. The email address that is used for Remote Commands should have a valid domain.

It is recommended that the default email address is kept – rcommands@mailessentials.com. This domain does exist and the emails sent to this email address will be seen by GFI MailEssentials as emails containing remote commands.

You can ensure that the email address is configured correctly from the GFI MailEssentials configuration -> right click on the Anti-Spam node and select Properties. Ensure that the Remote Commands feature is enabled, and that the email address is a valid email address. You should send emails containing remote commands to this email address. Other security options for the remote commands feature can also be configured from this window

For a list of remote commands, please check the GFI MailEssentials documentation. These can be downloaded from
