   at System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.Send(MailMessage message)
   at WebMon.Alerter.EmailSender.SendMessage(EmailMessage email, NotificationsSettingsData settings)"

Environment

  • GFI WebMonitor
  • Gmail

Root Cause

The account entered in the SMTP Settings cannot be authenticated, and the test email is not sent.

Resolution

The error above indicates that GFI WebMonitor is unable to send a test email because authentication is required. To resolve this issue, from the Gmail account settings, access the Sign-in & Security tab and enable the 'Allow less secure apps' option field.
