GFI Webmonitor policies not working for authenticated users or groups

PROBLEM

Customer has configured his policies to use Microsoft Active Directory Users or Groups but they are not working.

ENVIRONMENT

  • GFI WebMonitor
  • All supported environments

SOLUTION

  1. Make sure the GFI Webmonitor computer is a member of the domain.
  2. Make sure the GFI WebMonitor Core Service is configured to logon with a Domain Administrative account and the credentials are in the form of <Domain>\<UserName>.
  3. Make sure the policies are in the right order of priority.

CAUSE

The GFI Webmonitor Service requires domain administrator credentials to perform look ups in the Microsoft Active Directory in order to resolve users' group membership and email address.

NOTE: Even though the customer may be able to see the list of users and groups when configuring a policy it does not mean that the service will be able to do the look ups
