Overview

The faxes are garbled when using a Perle PCI-RAS 4 Multi-modem.

• Perle PCI-RAS 4 Multi-modem

Root Cause

By default, the generic modem is set to a 'class 2' device, though this particular device is 'class 1'.

Resolution

Follow these steps to fix the issue:

1. Open the GFI FaxMaker configuration.
2. Select Lines/Devices > Properties.
3. Select the 'affected Line' > Properties.
4. In the Device tab, select Advanced Modem Options > Edit modem.
5. In the Fax class section, select Class 1/1.0.

The faxes are clear when using a Perle PCI-RAS 4 Multi-modem.
