Error: 'The support folder cannot be cleared' When Running the Troubleshooter Wizard - FaxMaker and All GFI Applications

Overview

When you run the troubleshooter for a GFI FaxMaker or other GFI applications you get the following error:

The support folder cannot be cleared.

Environment

  • GFI FaxMaker
  • All GFI Products
  • All Supported Environments

Root Cause 

There may be a file in use or marked as read-only in the support folder or the troubleshooter wizard requires elevated credentials. 

Resolution

The following steps help you fix this issue. 

  1. Manually delete the contents of the support folder before running the 'troubleshooter wizard'.
  2. If applicable, run the 'troubleshooter wizard' as the administrator.

Confirmation

The troubleshooter wizard for the GFI FaxMaker and other GFI applications run successfully.
