Control SNMP Access to the Exinda

Overview

Exinda SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) alerts are sent from the management interface/IP of the Exinda.

  • If an admin wants to restrict only certain hosts to be able to access the SNMP warnings/alerts from the Exinda then they can do so on the Exinda if the management IP traffic passes through the bridges on the unit.

    • Users can create a network object for the Exinda's IP and another object for the hosts they want to allow SNMP to the Exinda.

    • Create a policy with source and destination as the objects above and application SNMP.

    • Create another policy under it with just the Exinda's IP in the host list and application SNMP and discard that traffic.

  • If the management traffic does not pass through the Exinda, then whichever device (firewall, router etc) is responsible for controlling the management traffic, there needs to be a rule there to allow or disallow SNMP access to the Exinda.
