DELL PowerEdge T110x Driver Issue

Overview

In certain PCIe T1/E1 TR1034 boards, the Dell PowerEdge T110x driver will be recognized, but the driver does not pass data to the fax board and cannot load the firmware. Other types of boards will also experience an issue whereby the driver is not recognized; thus, the board does not appear as installed.

Environment

Affected GFI Products

  • GFI FaxMaker 2011 Service Release 2 (Build 20110902)
  • GFI FaxMaker 2011 Service Release 3 (Build 20120306)
  • GFI FaxMaker 2013 (Build 20121101)

Hardware Type

  • Dell PowerEdge T110x
  • BIOS version pre 2.1.2

Root Cause

Dell-specific information overrides and changes the subsystem vendor and the device identifiers of these boards. These identifiers (among other values) are information that these boards put onto the PCIe bus to identify themselves. Because this information is changed on the host machine, the information is not recognized by the driver, and communication between board and driver cannot occur.

Resolution

Dell has fixed this defect in BIOS version 2.1.2 release. If you are running an older BIOS version, download the BIOS update from DELL's Drivers & Downloads site.

  1. Enter your service tag.
  2. Search for BIOS version 2.1.2 or later.
  3. Download and update BIOS.
