Overview
You may want to limit the number of patches downloaded by downloading only the patches necessary for your environment, specifically to only download patches in a particular language.
This article provides the steps to restrict the system to only download patches for languages used in the environment.
Information
Using the Only needed patches setting restricts the system to only download patches that are "required," which is determined by previous scans. This generally limits the downloading of patches based on the installed OS language. Still, there are exceptions to this, such as having installed an application in another language on an English OS.
Alternatively, the All patches download option can be configured to download from only certain vendors and in specific languages.
Process
To configure patch auto-download restrictions, do the following:
-
Launch GFI LanGuard.
-
Go to Configuration > Software Updates > Patch Auto–Download.
-
From the right pane, click the link.
-
In the General tab, select between All patches or Only needed patches.
-
In the All patches tab, click Configure to set up auto-download restrictions of patches for configured languages.
- Click OK to apply the changes.
