Esecagntservice.exe Taking up 100% CPU

Overview

CPU usage on agent machines spikes to 100% because of the esecagntservice.exe application.

Environment

  • EndPointSecurity
  • All Supported Environments

Root Cause

The msgstorage.dat file gets corrupted.

Resolution

  1. Uninstall the agent from the machine where the high memory usage occurs.
  2. On the agent machine, browse to: ..\Program Files\GFI\EndPointSecurity 4 Agent
  3. Delete the file msgstorage.dat file.
  4. Re-deploy the agent on this machine through the EndpointSecurity console.
