The local host page is not accessible after restarting the browser

PROBLEM

The local host (127.0.0.1) page is not accessible after you restart the browser. The user interface of GFI WebMonitor will not open if it points to 127.0.0.1:1007.

ENVIRONMENT

  • GFI WebMonitor 
  • Microsoft Windows 8.1 or Microsoft Windows server 2012 R2

SOLUTION

Disable Enhanced Protection Mode for Microsoft Internet Explorer 11:
  1. Open the Control Panel
  2. Select Network and Internet > Internet Options
  3. Open the Advanced tab
  4. Uncheck Enable Enhanced Protected Mode

CAUSE

This problem is caused by the Enhanced Protection Mode which is enabled by default on Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 from Microsoft Windows 8.1.
 
Enhanced Protection Mode blocks all the requests which is originated from Internet zone to Local Zone on the loopback address. The problem occurs only when GFI WebMonitor is installed on the same machine where the user tries to access the dashboard or use the local proxy from Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.
