Can I update multiple installations using a single download of the WebGrade database?

Answer

If you are using multiple installations of GFI WebMonitor, you can download the WebGrade database once and use it on all installations.

Perform the following steps on the main GFI WebMonitor installation:

• Ensure that the WebGrade database is updated on this installation
• Stop the GFI WebMonitor service and the Microsoft Firewall service
• Make a backup copy of the following directories, located in the GFI WebMonitor directory (By default: C:\Program Files\GFI\WebMonitor)

• Restart the services stopped in step 2

Perform the following steps on all other installations of GFI WebMonitor:

• Stop the GFI WebMonitor service and the Microsoft Firewall service
• Copy the files backed up in step 3 above to the same folders within the GFI WebMonitor directory, overwriting as necessary
• Restart the services stopped in step 1

Notes:

• The GFI WebGrade database uses differential updates. This means that consecutive updates to the WebGrade database will be an average of 500KB in size. Due to this, the procedure explained above needs to be performed only for the first download of the WebGrade database (which is 170MB on average).
