Manually Updating GFI WebMonitor's WebGrade Database

Overview

This article provides the general steps to update GFI WebMonitor's WebGrade database manually.

 

Process

  1. Obtain a username and password from GFI Support.

  2. Connect to the CDNUpdate server and log in using the username and password obtained from GFI Support.

  3. Download webgrade3_current_version.zip file.

    Inside the .zip file, you will find two files:

    • WebGrade3.zip

    • webgrade_current_revision.txt

  4. Stop all GFI WebMonitor services.

  5. Rename the <GFI WebMonitor installation path>\GFI\WebMonitor\Categorization\FirstInstance folder to FirstInstance-OLD.

  6. Rename the <GFI WebMonitor installation path>\GFI\WebMonitor\Categorization\SecondInstance folder to SecondInstance-OLD.

  7. Create three new blank folders:

    1. <GFI WebMonitor installation path>\GFI\WebMonitor\Updates\WebGrade3

    2. <GFI WebMonitor installation path>\GFI\WebMonitor\Categorization\FirstInstance

    3. <GFI WebMonitor installation path>\GFI\WebMonitor\Categorization\SecondInstance

  8. Extract the contents of the webgrade_current_version.zip file to <GFI WebMonitor installation path>\GFI\WebMonitor\Updates\WebGrade2.

  9. Extract the contents of the new WebGrade3.zip to <GFI WebMonitor installation path>\GFI\WebMonitor\Updates\WebGrade3.

  10. Copy all files except the .zip files from the ...Updates\WebGrade3 folder to the following folders:

    • <GFI WebMonitor installation path>\GFI\WebMonitor\Categorization\FirstInstance

    • <GFI WebMonitor installation path>\GFI\WebMonitor\Categorization\SecondInstance

  1. Restart the GFI Proxy service (in the Standalone Proxy version), or the Microsoft Firewall service (in the ISA/TMG version).

  2. Start the GFI WebMonitor Core service.

Note: GFI WebMonitor makes use of the differential update system for the WebGrade database. After performing the above procedure, GFI WebMonitor will automatically try to download small differential update files.

 

Confirmation

Open the GFI WebMonitor interface and go to the WebGrade node. The Status and Version fields show '100% downloaded.'
