Problem Summary

Umlaut characters are not encoded correctly in an RTF coverpage when using TextAPI

TT / JIRAID

284

How to Identify

Customer sends faxes using TextAPI commands. RTF coverpage is configured for TextAPI. Text contains umlaut (e.g. ä, ü, etc.). Text file with TextAPI command is saved in UTF-8 encoding format. It appears that GFI FaxMaker inserts the message text (UTF-8) into the RTF coverpage in plain form without doing any additional encoding on the message text itself. Based on other resources, RTF format has the capability to display Umlauts properly, however special encoding of the source text is required before text is inserted into the RTF coverpage.
