Error: "No data available for the selected period" in Monitoring Graphs

Overview

You may experience an issue where the graphs on the Exinda are not visible, and the below error message is displayed regardless of the time range that the graph is being shown.

No data available for the selected period.

Root Cause

Daemon is not connected to the mysqld process.

Resolution

If the database is showing 'starting,' wait around 5 to 10 minutes. If the monitoring graphs are  still not displayed, restart the database using the following commands:

en
conf t
service database restart

The database will change from 'starting' to 'running,' and graphs should start appearing. If the database is showing 'running' and graphs are still not displayed after 10 minutes, proceed to restart the monitor using the below commands:

en
conf t
service monitor restart

Additional Information

Note that there are valid scenarios where the message can be displayed:

  • The virtual circuits graph in the Optimizer has been turned off for the entire period.
  • A time range where the database was down.
  • Any time range in which the Exinda was in bypass mode or turned off.

Note: If the above does not resolve the issue, restart datad and statisticsd, as they roll up the data to be put into the tables.
