Overview

A Windows XP machine hangs or freezes when you plug in a Western Digital MyPassport USB 3.0 HDD.

The system returns to normal, and the HD (hard drive) can be used after about a minute, but there are cases when it remains stuck, and you cannot do anything except for a cold reboot.

Root Cause

This is a product defect which has been fixed in EndPointSecurity Agent Build 20121115.

Resolution

1. Verify which EndPointSecurity agent version you have installed.
2. If the version of your agent is older than 20121115, download and install the EndPointSecurity 20121115_ESEC2012 patch.
3. If you are already running the version 20121115 or newer, contact Central Support for further troubleshooting.
