The 'Temporary Allowed' Option Is Not Visible in the GFI WebMonitor Console

Overview

This article resolves an issue where the Temporary Allowed option, under Settings > Policies, is not available for the GFI WebMonitor Console.

Information

Environment

This issue and resolution are applicable for GFI WebMonitor 2013 and earlier.

Root Cause

When the Anonymization option is enabled, the Temporary Allowed feature is not available. Since Anonymization hides the real usernames and replaces them with user1, user2, etc., temporary access permissions cannot be assigned by the user. Since the function of this feature would be blocked then, it is disabled in the WebMonitor Console

Process

  1. In the WebMonitor Console, navigate to Settings > General > Options.
  2. Turn off the Anonymization feature. As mentioned earlier, if Anonymization is enabled, the Temporary Allowed feature will not be available.

Confirmation

The Temporary Allowed feature is now available under Settings > Policies.
