Overview

Routing enables GFI FaxMaker to determine the correct recipient of an incoming fax. When a fax is received, GFI FaxMaker routes the fax to its intended recipient.

This article guides you on how to access the routing nodes in the FaxMaker Configuration.

Process

1. Access the GFI FaxMaker Configuration and go to Routing.
   
   
   
   
2. Expand the routing node to show the routing types. 
   
   

• CSID (Called Subscriber Identification): The CSID routing uses the sender’s fax machine ID to display when routing faxes to particular users. This method is not recommended since fax senders may hide the CSID.
• DTMF/DID (Dual Tone Multi-Frequency Signaling/Direct Inward Dial): This is used when incoming faxes have DID or DTMF information in the incoming call. DID is for digital T1 line or FoIP (Fax over IP). DTMF would be tones played on analog lines for calling identification. Both are processed the same way. • OCR (Optical Character Recognition): This requires a License Add-On. When a fax is received it will be converted to a text file so the characters can be read and routed by the users’ names or keywords or phrases. You can also set the matching ratio % in the OCR feature. For more information on how to assess OCR, please refer to Evaluating the OCR Routing Module.
• Line: This is per line number set in Lines and Devices. Line routing can only be used if, for example, Line 0 is a direct line to an analog line through a single port in a dedicated fax device with a specific phone number. Other incoming faxes such as ISDN, or FoIP or T1, etc., will not always enter the same line each time a fax is received.
• MSN (Multiple Subscriber Number): This is usually used with ISDN lines and works the same way as DID but will be used with ISDN telephony networks.

NOTE: Both DTMF/DID and MSN require the routing checkbox to be marked under Lines and Devices > Advanced and the correct number of digits should also be selected. 

1. Once the Routing type has been selected, go to Properties to set the appropriate settings.
   There are three tab labels in Properties:

• Default Router: The admin in FaxMaker receives all faxes that are not routed to a user. This could be due to no routing rule or rule not followed depending on the circumstances involved. 
• Users who receive all faxes: Any user listed here will receive every fax that comes into FaxMaker.
• Network Share: Setup the routing types use if the option “Send transmission report with link to fax” is selected. This will set up a folder structure with permissions applied for users that will receive the fax.
