Why do faxes upload from "unknown" <fax@faxmaker.com> ?

Answer

Applies to:
  • GFI FaxMaker
  • Telephony Environment: Analog

In an Analog environment when a fax is received without CSID information, it will upload to the intended user(s) from "unknown" <fax@faxmaker.com>.  If a CSID is provided, it will commonly upload from CSIDnumber@faxmaker.com.  The exception to this would be when GFI FaxMaker is being used in combination with the Microsoft Fax (MS FAX) drivers.

Note: CSID stands for Called Subscriber Identification; this is not the same as CLID (Calling Line Identification)/ CLIP (Caller Line Identity Presentation).  CLIP/CLID is supported only in a digital environment, as noted in: How to configure GFI FaxMaker to route faxes using CLIP (Caller Line Identity Presentation)
