Why does GFI FaxMaker preface a WT in front of the dialled number?

Answer

If the Wait for Dialtone and Tone Dialing options are enabled in the GFI FaxMaker Configuration, then GFI FaxMaker will preface the character W and the character T in front of the dialed number. In certain environments (such as FOIP) it may not be necessary to use tone dialing or to wait for a dialtone. In such cases both options can be disabled as follow:

  1. Go into the GFI FaxMaker Configuration
  2. Open the Properties of the Lines/Devices
  3. For each line, choose to view the Properties
  4. From the Device tab, uncheck Tone Dialing and Wait for Dialtone
  5. Repeat these steps for each line, then restart both GFI FaxMaker services
